Finally, a post!

Well, I started this blog in August of 2011 and have just now figured out how to post anything!  I have been busy getting into the retirement thing and that has been hard.  I had gone from a job I was passionate about, working with children, to being at home all day!  Learning to blog just hasn't been a priority for me.

What have I been doing these last two and a half years?  For the first year and a half I overloaded myself with purchasing the starts of many projects, only a few of which were finished.   Then I added entertaining, which ended up being dinner party after dinner party.  I volunteered for every birthday celebration, etc etc.  I was the chief cook and cake maker for everyone and everything.  ( I don't think I was, but it felt that way).  Of course, I added volunteering to the list as well!  I worked with children on an individual basis at least twice a week for a year.

I started to come to my senses when I began having some minor health issues brought on from the stress of my newly concocted, retired lifestyle.   I was going about this all wrong!   However, it didn't stop the grieving process I was going through for the much loved career I had left.  I then had fits and starts of  the blues which I couldn't figure out.  After all, I was retired and didn't that mean a life of fun and leisure?

One day, though, I woke up and just started feeling different!  I actually felt calm, relaxed, and, get this! I felt content and happy!   I think being retired from a job one does not like may be easier than leaving a job that is well loved.

Through all of this upheaval I have taken up the knitting needles again, the crochet hooks from my grandmother are back in use, and I bought two beautiful new sewing machines which are also starting to use up some electricity.  I'm knitting socks for my friend, making a quilt for a wedding, and have finished a few other projects I started at the beginning of my journey from work to home.

My plan is to use this blog to keep track of my crafting, my painting ( I paint too!), and my daily life with my family and friends.  Maybe it will keep me "posted" on  my daily life with me, too!

Hope this finds you "in the pink"!
